Steve Johnson
Lead Guitar
Like all good baby boomers,
The Beatles et al had a major impact on me. Music has been an integral
part of my life ever since. I have played guitar in various bands
over the years, always as a hobby. I first played blues music in
High School. Heavily influenced by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers
(both the Clapton and Peter Green versions), Albert King, BB King,
Paul Butterfield and many other "unknowns" at the time. Through
the years I have played blues, rock, latin funk, loud, soft, and
everything in between. I just love music. As far as I am concerned
there is no such thing as bad music. Not that everyone should like
or enjoy all styles, but, music is a creative outlet and as such
must be allowed to exist in all it's forms.
From nothing comes something.
It's pretty amazing when you think about it.
Anyway, my relationship
with music is my longest running and deepest relationship. It is
part of my family and as such I can't live without it (this is a
good time to thank my wife Jan and my daughter Kim for putting up
with my obsession).
I am thrilled to be a
member of The Delta 88s. Since meeting Tery about a year
ago and assembling the band I have had a great time, met some new
friends, and above all, totally enjoy making music.
For what it's worth (since
Dan talked about his stuff) I play a Fender American Deluxe Fat
Strat through a Peavey Stereo Chorus 212. Occasionally I use a Blues
Driver stomp box. Strings are usually .09s from various manufacturers.
Onward and upward.
